Celebrity Stylist, Danilo, Styles Anne Hathaway’s Contemporary Glamour Look for the Alice in Wonderland Premiere, London

Pantene Pro-V Ambassador and Celebrity Stylist, Danilo’s Step by Step Guide to Get the Look:

Step 1:
After washing hair use a Pantene Pro-V Nature Fusion Moisture Balance Leave-In conditioner throughout the length of your hair to leave it shiny and touchably soft.
Step 2:
Use a hair dryer and do classic blowdry. First part your hair in a side parting then apply Pantene Pro-V Volume & Body Mousse to the roots to boost volume. Then take 3cm wide sections of hair at a time and blowdry the length of the hair curling the hair under at the ends with a round brush to give the ends a rounded finish.
Step 3:
To finish apply some an anti-frizz serum to the ends for added shine then mist you hair all over with a volumising hairspray to give your look staying power for the evening.

Danilo’s Top Tip: “Make sure you’ve got your umbrella with you so you don’t end up drowned by the pouring rain like the stars on the red carpet.”

Lancome at The Baftas - Get Top Celebrity Make-Up Artist Tips!

Celebrating 10 years as the Official Beauty Partner to the BAFTAs, Lancôme raised the beauty stakes this year by adorning the faces of award-winning actors, actresses and citation readers alike with their luxury cosmetics products. From past BAFTA winner Kate Winslet, to this year’s winners Carey Mulligan and Kristen Stewart and rising stars Anna Kendrick, Bonnie Wright, Jaime Winstone to established stars such as Anne Marie Duff, Claire Danes, Vera Farmiga to name a few, there was no shortage of glamour and high voltage beauty on the red-carpet.
At this year’s ceremony, most women still wanted to look like themselves, if not a more polished version. This included some of the younger attendees although Brit star, Jaime Winstone broke the mould, embracing a more directional old ‘Hollywood’ Marilyn Monroe style.
A key trend given by the Lancôme-BAFTA make up team was an updated red-carpet version of the smoky eye coupled with softly bronzed, sculpted cheeks. A touch of blush on the apples of cheeks left all the girls with a rosy, feminine glow on a crisp winter’s night.

Claire Danes

Celebrated make-up artist Ashley Ward created Claire Danes’ BAFTA appearance using Lancôme products.
“When it’s an event, I always ask the publicist what dress the actress will be wearing so I have an idea. Claire wore a Burberry silver dress with lots of pleats and draping.”
Onto her beautiful, elegantly pale skin, I applied Hydra Zen Neurocalm™ Soothing Anti Stress Moisturising Fluid Cream (£35.50) then for the base, the paleness of Photogenic Lumessence in Beige Albâtre (£27.50) was perfect for Claire’s skin tone. Blush Subtil Highlighter in Peach (£25) was applied on the apple of the cheeks and the warm shade was ideal to work as both a blusher and a highlighter.
Ombre Absolue Palette in Intemporel Smoky, G10 (£33) was used in the darkest silver shade in the socket area to enhance Claire’s blue eyes, blending it all the way up to the brow bone. Then on the inside of the eyes, Ashley used the lighter silver to create sparkle but also so that in flash photography, eyes look opened and not sunken. The overall make-up look was very light and ethereal.
Fortunately for Claire, she has very long eye lashes. To make them look even longer, Ashley applied the Lancôme Cils Booster XL (£18) to give a fairy like aspect to her beauty with long sweeping lashes. Over the top she then applied Hypnôse mascara in Noir (£19.50).
For the lips, Ashley prepped them using L’Absolu Rouge Le Base (£17.50) before applying a really deep red. L’Absolu Rouge in 132 is a true red (not too blue so it kept Claire’s skin looking warm) with a satin matt finish. “I wanted her to look modern but ethereal; with soft sparkly eyes and a red pout like an empowered starlet.” To set the look, Ashley then finished off with Poudre Majeur Excellence in Translucent (£26).

Anne Marie Duff

Anne Marie Duff’s personal hair and make-up artist, Jennie Roberts worked on creating a very “pure and simple look” to complement Anne Marie’s pillar box red, Alberta Ferretti chiffon, full length gown.
Teint Idole Ultra Foundation in 01 (£26.50) was applied as a base over the face with Flash Retouche Perfect Brush-on Concealer in 01 (£23.50) to conceal any blemishes and dark circles, targeting the inner corner of the eyes specifically.
On the eyes, Jennie used the white of Ombre Absolue Duo in My Dear Montmartre, G01 (£22.50) over the lid, shaded with the Blush Subtil Highlighting Beige, 004 (£25). A delicate line of Artliner in Noir (£19) was applied along the rim of the top lid to really play on Anne Marie’s large eyes finished off with lashings of Hypnôse Mascara in Noir Hypnotic (£20).
Cheeks were blushed over with Blush Subtil Shimmer in Peach Fever, 20 (£24). Lips were dressed with Colour Fever Lipstick in Red on Fire, 108 (£17) and the overall make-up look was set using Ageless Minerals Powder in Translucent (exclusive to Selfridges, £32). “She looks absolutely radiant and the happiest we’ve ever seen her now that she and James McAvoy are expecting their first child,” comments Jennie.

Just Launched - Philips Lumea IPL Hair Remover System

Imagine the freedom of never needing to worry about stubble on your legs, underarms or bikini line ever again? Well, prepare to be enlightened by this revolutionary hair removal device that is set to change women’s beauty regimes forever!

This February, Philips launched Lumea, a proven effective Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) depilation solution that prevents hair growth to grant women their ultimate beauty wish - to be free from unwanted hair and have perfectly smooth skin every day.
Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) is the latest advanced technology used by the professional beauty industry for hair removal.
Philips Lumea brings this effective technology directly to your home in a safe and easy to use, handheld, rechargeable appliance. It works by applying gentle, effective pulses of light to the hair root, making it inactive. As a result, hair sheds naturally and the regrowth process is inhibited. The results can be maintained by repeating the process every two weeks for underarm and bikini area and every four weeks for legs, ensuring that you are beautifully smooth and confidently hair-free every day.
There is no mess and no stress as you can use this cordless device anywhere – even while watching TV! Plus, unlike other IPL hair removal systems for use at home, you do not need to worry about buying replacement bulbs or a contact gel.
When tested*, 82% of women preferred Philips Lumea’s IPL hair removal system to conventional methods, including waxing, shaving and epilation. *Based on 315 Lumea users in Spain (MetrixLab, 2009)
Jennie Flatt, from Philips, commented: “Philips has been working with leading dermatologists¹ for almost 7 years in the field of light based hair removal. These relationships, and years of clinical and handling trials, alongside a real desire to have this product available for home use by consumers has led to the development of Lumea. Five adjustable light settings ensure a gentle and effective treatment across a wide variety of skin tones and hair colours whilst an integrated UV filter and advanced safety controls provide maximum protection for skin.”
Now you can say goodbye to expensive courses of salon laser treatments, painful waxing sessions, short term results and unsightly reactions like in-growing hairs and shaving rashes. Consulting US dermatologist Vic A. Narukar says of this development: ‘In my practice, patients are always requesting a more effective solution for hair removal. Philips Lumea is an innovative hand-held solution. It allows women to safely and effectively prevent hair re-growth in the comfort of their own home.’
Lumea is available from Boots with a recommended retail price of £400.
